PRESS RELEASE

At her new showroom and design studio, Leigh Pryde demonstrates her unique contemporary Asian Aesthetic. The clean lines and powerful architectural elements of the showroom design give her clients a strong sense of her style. In the calmness of the environment she has created, you will find the richness of layered textures, luxury materials, Asian accents, and unexpected elements that delight.

Having studied fashion design, Leigh quickly moved into interiors by first training to be a Master Upholsterer, learning traditional techniques and working with craftsmen. She then joined the world class hospitality interior design firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates, honing her skills as an FF&E Designer on numerous luxury hotel projects across Asia and high-profile residential development clubhouses and show flats in Hong Kong, including Residence Bel-Air.  Most notably, Leigh was selected as the lead FF&E Designer on the Marina Bay Sands Hotel Project in Singapore. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Leigh focussed on luxury residential projects and one-off commissions.

Leigh commented, “Since moving to New Zealand, I noticed a gap in the market for my contemporary Asian-inspired aesthetic.  I have distilled down a lifetime of exposure to rich and varied cultural experiences gained from living and working throughout Asia, to create Conqubine Studio -- a design studio and showroom offering a range of design services to clients.”

In addition to design services, Conquibine Studio provides a source of unique and unusual interior accessories to architects, designers, home staging companies and private clients.

Within the showroom, Leigh mixes the art of one of Hong Kong’s foremost contemporary Ink painters - Nina Pryde - together with curated objects including Burmese Lacquerware, bronze & cast metal accessories, custom crystal objects and Designer Faux Florals. Conqubine Studio’s collection adds serene and stylish impact to any interior.

Leigh added, “I have three design principles – Luxury, Harmony and Elegance. Luxury is brought alive through rich textures, materials and craftsmanship. Harmony speaks to my holistic approach to lifestyle and preference for natural materials, resonance and balance in my designs. Elegance is the sense of refinement I bring into in my design and decoration choices. Together, these create my contemporary Asian Aesthetic that enriches any location or space.”
